Service Description: The three components of the mosaiced DEM of the entire globe (elevation and bathymetry) resampled to the resolution of the finest part (SRTM) of 92.5 meters. SRTM – (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) data was acquired in February 2000 from an 11-day long mission of the Space Shuttle Endeavour. The resolution of the data is 3 arc seconds (about 92.5 meters) along the Equator and the meridians. Spatial extent of the data is from 60 degreed N to 56 degrees S, which almost completely covers the populated area. The elevation ranges from -418 to 8,649 meters.
GTopo30 – is a digital elevation model of the entire world developed by USGS and completed in 1996. GTOPO30 was derived from several raster and vector sources of topographic information. The spatial resolution of the model is 30 arc seconds (about 925 meters) along the Equator and the meridians. The vertical units represent elevation in meters above mean sea level. The elevation values range from -407 to 8,752 meters. In the DEM, ocean
areas have been masked as "no data" and have been assigned a value of -9999. The entire area of the globe (90 N to 90 S) is covered by this data. GEBCO - The General Bathymetry Chart of the Oceans worldwide bathymetry data set data is available at a 30 arc second resolution. The latest updates to the data accuracy were made in 2009. This world’s ocean data was generated by combining quality-controlled ship depth soundings with interpolation between sounding points guided by satellite-derived gravity data. The data was managed and stored by the British Oceanographic Data Center.
